Tyrell was established in 2000, and our Team of technical experts has a over 200 years of combined experience. But what do they actually do? Where did they come from, and what can they do for you? Here we provide those answers and let you know exactly who the Tyrell folks are, and how they can support your project.

Our business is supplying technology to the broadcast, film, post-production and new media communities in the UK and Ireland. The extensive list of customers who have enjoyed Tyrell’s high levels of specialist advice and technical support include the BBC, RTE, TV3,  PaddyPower and many more.


Adam Lewiston is our Pre-Sales & Support Manager and has recently joined us from Soho-based Root6, where he was one of the Technical Pre-Sales Engineers. He is a qualified Avid ACSR and has also trained with EMAM, Object Matrix and Facilis to name a few. Adam graduated from The University of Hertfordshire where he gained a BAhons degree in Media Production and Management. He has held positions in various resellers as well as having experience in the field as a facilities manager at CrowTV and ORTV. His approach is characterised by a high level of technical competence with excellent customer service.


Greg Abell is Tyrell’s Pre-Sales Engineer, and joins us from Warner Brothers where he worked as a Senior Post Production Engineer. With 8 years experience supporting post production operations, Greg previously held positions in Molinare and Ericsson. A graduate of The University of Wales with a BSc in Studio & Performance Technology, Greg also graduated from The BBC Academy in Broadcast Engineering.


Johnny Reed is our Sales Account Manager and graduated from Ravensbourne College with a 1st in Broadcast Systems Technology BSc. Previously he worked with Input Media, one of Europe’s leading sports production companies as a Junior Engineer before switching to the Tyrell support team in 2015. Johnny has since brought his technical prowess to our sales team, where his constant appetite for knowledge ensures clients will always benefit from his experience.


Ross McSween  joins us from Halo Post where he held the position of Senior Engineer, Ross has clocked up over 16 years of post production experience working at some of London’s top Post houses, including NatsTMREvolutions and Halo, so understands the pressures and demands that clients can face on a daily basis. Ross Graduated from Staffordshire University with a BA Hons in Media Production before finding his passion for the world of post-production.


Michael Martin is a highly motivated Broadcast/Electronic Engineer with over ten years’ experience with world leading companies. His TV industry experience started in Sydney (Australia) as a Broadcast Engineer at the busiest studio in Australia for Channel 7, this was a fast paced, very involved environment. Michael honed his skills at BBC Belfast when he moved back to the Northern Hemisphere working on first line broadcast support for all technical issues before moving to Tyrell to expand his knowledge even more.

Declan Hogan is our Group Technical Director, and started his broadcast career as a Systems Integrator for Avid after completing his honours Degree in Electronic Engineering. Then, at the tender age of 30, he became Chief Engineer at Windmill Lane, one of Ireland’s leading post-production houses which is associated with The Mill (UK). Following that, he held the position of Broadcast Specialist at RTÉ, Ireland’s leading Television Broadcaster. At RTÉ Declan sharpened his skill set to become one of the best resources to advise and consult on a range of Technology solutions in the Broadcast, Production and Postproduction industries throughout the UK and Ireland.


José De Freitas is our Director of Projects, and has one of the most complete broadcast brains in our industry, he has the operational appreciation with the depth of a detailed technical understanding of how a Television station should operate to enhance the all important operational and technical teams. All these combined with the clear focus on the commercials is a collection of traits Tyrell is particularly proud of. Before joining us José was the Chief Technical Officer of TV3, a position he held for 17 years.


Bryan Malone is our Managing Director, and after 20 years in an ever-changing business, Bryan’s forté is understanding the vast array of products available, and the business requirements for startups and established companies.  He values the excellent customer support Tyrell offers,  both when in negotiations and on an ongoing basis and understands the needs of the client to be kept abreast of emerging trends. Forming close partnerships with both customers and manufactures is very important to Bryan and he is always available to help and advise.
