Intinor – IP delivery

Intinor has a problem. Thankfully for someone working with the product in presales and support it’s not technical. In fact, it’s one of the most robust and flexible bits of IP infrastructure I’ve come across. The problem is that it does so much it’s hard to define where it should sit in the marketplace. The IBC headlines and press releases from Intinor have been muted, much like the hardware units the ingenious staff of this company sit there quietly, working hard without making too much of a fuss.
File Catalyst

Our friends in Ottowa have a number of new features and partnerships for the 2017 IBC.
- Improved UI, whilst small as a feature is always very much welcomed by users. The team are at File Catalyst are happy to say that they are moving to a more bolder look.
- The more strategic announcement is their partnership with Acembly (http://www.acembly.com/). Acembly provide Cloud Storage management for the likes of Azure, Google, Amazon, Qumulo and Private Cloud within the one single browser. You can well imagine the levels of administration that Acembly can do, including presenting the cost of each bucket, which isn’t the easiest of tasks.
LiveU

LiveU continued to a very busy stand, this year it was helped this year by the LiveU IBC Studio Set, hosted by Michael Artsis, a 3 camera setup that was transmitted back to the BeTerrific Production Studio back in the US, proving that the LiveU ecosystem can help to produce remote productions, as well as the traditional ENG News Camera back to studio, they were using the new LU600 HEVC units, producing great picture quality and ensuring its all in sync, all the camera signals picked up by the LiveU LU2000 server.
Signiant

Remember the days when you used to give your TX master to a runner to get to the broadcaster as quickly as possible before the despatch closed on Friday for the weekend? speed was critical and it still is, even in a world of tape-less workflows.
But now it’s all down to how fast you can get the file delivered. Unfortunately there will always be limitations like the size of the file and the size of your network to the outside world, but there are third party software and hardware out there than can help you squeeze the most out of it.
IBM – Ustream

At first sight, and to many in the industry, IBM’s decision to buy Ustream at the beginning of last year, looked really strange and difficult to comprehend.
Less than a year later, though, all the pieces seem to be fitting together and IBM has now completed the creation of IBM Cloud Video Business Unit.

Ustream is now one of the four pillars of the IBM Cloud Video offering , along with Aspera, Clearleap and Cleversafe.
NewTek = Wow Factor!

NewTek have the wow factor, if you have ever had the pleasure of seeing them at a trade show you will know what I mean.
They have jazz, they have pizazz and they have virtual studios, it’s all very exciting. They also have new products out.
NewTek LivePanel
We are excited about IP and the benefits it offers our industry and it seems manufacturers are as well judging by the NewTek booth at IBC this year.
Aspera

As I drove into work over the last few days, the increase in traffic caused by the change in weather, end of holidays and general surge in economic activity, I couldn’t stop wondering:
“If only Aspera’s set of protocols and automation solutions could be applied to the gridlock we are experiencing”
I guess that the advent of driver-less vehicles will eventually enable this type of management to be applied…
Now, back to reality…
In a world of ‘blobs’, ‘live streams ‘high availability’, ‘data synchronization’ and ‘SaaS services’, IBM® Aspera® High-Speed File Transfer enables organizations to rapidly transfer large files and data sets—whether structured or unstructured—over an existing WAN infrastructure with predictable, reliable and secure delivery regardless of file size, transfer distance and network conditions.
