The Genelec 8000 Series Two-way Active Monitors and 8200 Series Two-way DSP Monitors offer a wide choice of solutions for demanding nearfield listening applications. From the diminutive 6010 to the state-of-the-art 8250A they share the same design.
Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) with rounded edges that curve gently and seamlessly into the shapes of the Advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) and the large rear-opening of the reflex tube. This long, curved reflex tube is flow optimized to increase the woofer’s low frequency extension and SPL capacity. New low distortion drivers combined with carefully designed crossover filters result in improved resolution and less listening fatigue over the entire audio spectrum. The rubber based Iso-Pod (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler) provides adjustable enclosure tilt to point the acoustical axis precisely towards the listener for best sound reproduction. The Iso-Pod prevents also coloration caused by conduction of unwanted vibration to the mounting surface.
The analogue 6100 and 8000 Series models contain integrated amplifiers and crossover circuits, including room response controls for adjusting the monitors for optimal response in different situations. Overload protection circuits protect the drivers and amplifiers, providing long term reliability.
The 8200 Series DSP monitors are equipped with powerful digital signal processing for maximum accuracy and adaptability. Controlled and adjusted by Genelec’s proprietary Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software including the Auto Cal calibration function, these monitors are the ultimate nearfield monitoring tools.
Genelec Tri-Amplified Monitoring Systems are compact active monitors with performance equal to much larger systems. They contain active electronic crossovers, overload protection circuitry and power amplifiers. Such active design concept eliminates component tolerances and ensures consistent audio quality. The new 8260A DSP three-way system represents Genelec’s cutting-edge innovations in all technology domains. The MDC™ coaxial MF/HF breakthrough solution combines, for the first time, a coaxial driver within Genelec DCW™ waveguide. The resonance-free die-cast aluminium enclosure allows for improved low frequency efficiency and cut-off. The advanced electronics feature AutoCal, Genelec’s proprietary automated room calibration system, part of GLM software. The unique 8260A is capable of outstanding and consistent performance in very challenging acoustic conditions.
The 1038CF and 1238CF are optimized for applications where a subwoofer is used. Their very compact cabinets are easy to place and the full-size DCW maintains consistent directivity even in medium sized control rooms. The 1038CF is equipped with an analogue crossover unit, while the 1238CF has similar advanced DSP unit as the 8260A.
The 1037C and the 1038B are magnetically shielded three-way monitoring systems for moderate sized control rooms. Due to their broad bandwidth and high output, they are ideal for music recording, surround sound monitoring, DVD mastering, broadcasting studios, editing suites and drama studios. Although designed to be used free standing, they perform even better when flush mounted.
The 1038BC is a magnetically shielded compact centre channel version of the 1038B monitor delivered with a separate rack-mounted amplifier unit as standard. It is designed to be used with a pair of 1038B’s in three channel (LCR) set-up and in surround systems where space near the video monitor or screen is limited. The 1038BC can also be oriented vertically for installations where horizontal space is limited.
Genelec’s unique Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) technology provides excellent sound stage imaging and frequency balance. These systems can be used in vertical and horizontal orientations by rotating the DCW waveguide unit.
Main Studio Monitors
Genelec Main Monitoring Systems are extremely powerful active monitors for medium to very large sized control room environments. They are designed for flush mounting installations in the control room walls and can be used in vertical and horizontal orientations by rotating the DCW waveguide unit.
They consist of a large loudspeaker enclosure and a 19″ equipment rack containing active electronic crossovers, three-channel power amplifiers and sophisticated protection and diagnostic circuitry. The only connections required are the line level input signal and the mains. Precise and versatile room response adjustments allow perfect match to the acoustic conditions in different control rooms.
