We will be making the announcement in the August edition of The Tyrell Newsletter
While over at the show Bryan Malone (MD) and Declan Hogan (CTO) met up with Codex. They started out with their brilliantly versatile Vault system and the Arri capture drive.
The Vault was an all in one on set unit. The box itself was capable of checking and correcting Metadata, creating proxies with or without a LUT for editorial or on set review. It could also back up and archive the original shot material utilising a built in LTO drive.
In a world where even an iPhone can shoot video in 4K there are surprisingly few tools that dedicate themselves to the wrangling and transcoding of UHD, high frame rate and high dynamic range footage. Colorfront Transkoder is one such product. A powerful post workflow tool for handling the vast range of UHD, HDR camera, colour, editorial and deliverables formats.
Transkoder is based on Colorfront’s award winning on-set dailies architecture and uses cost-effective, commodity hardware, to deliver faster-than-real-time processing to transcode, decode, convert, wrap and process files to various high-end file formats.
I’m never sure about Adobe Premiere, it’s come an awful long way since the early days but at times it still feels that it’s been designed by a committee. Many features launched such as transfer between programs such as Premiere and After Effects work really well on paper till you start doing it and then it does it , just maybe not the way a logical human being does it.
But you know what, you have a Creative Cloud subscription so you’re getting Premiere as part of the package every month and they do provide a lot of updates every year without fail.
At this stage many of you are probably aware of Telestream and their range of transcoding and automation products. A truly customisable and highly automated encoding and transcoding innovator at every show, without fail, they launch something new that adds to the integration with other industry leading products and increases the automation that can be applied to Broadcast and Post Production workflows.
This NAB has continued that trend and they have launched a couple of neat features :
In Vantage Avid MediaCentral Monitor allows users to manage files in their Interplay or Mediacentral eliminating the need for export of files from these systems for them to be utilised by Vantage.
The last few years have been busy ones for OM, with entire tape archives being moved into OM Private Cloud solutions with ITV and TV3, Ireland. TV3 being the latest big name to trust MatrixStore for their archive assets and one that Tyrell is very proud of :
Object Matrix, the master craftsman of Private Cloud and Hybrid Cloud object storage have spun their ‘people to integrate with next’ roulette table and landed on… Adobe.
Tyrell have been enjoying a new relationship with Quantum this year and although it’s still in its infancy we are finding ourselves talking more and more about their scale out storage solutions.
The Stornext file system allows us to propose solutions over a SAN or a NAS infrastructure and with its advanced management platform this can be tiered. Production workflows can become remarkably complex and this approach from Quantum makes it easy to manage Long term archive, Nearline and High-Performance storage elements.
Each year Tyrell picks a different charity and instead of sending Christmas Cards we decide to make a contribution towards helping people at this special time of the year.
The 5 day event that is IBC in Amsterdam has closed for another year. Despite the heavy rain, the very busy schedule, late nights, early morning, we return exhausted, but enthusiastic about the months or next year ahead.
We caught up with lots of existing relationships and definitely started some new one, USA, Israel & Spain to name a few we listened and witnessed the constant evolution, as everyone pointed upwards to the cloud that the industry is about to embrace, everyone with a slightly different flavour of course, that on paper should be able to collaborate.
The general purpose of a professional intercom system is to facilitate simple to complex communication setups for few to thousands of users who need to be continuously on talk and/or listen mode.
Clear-Com has long been recognised as a leader in Broadcast and live performance Applications, but also extending to Military, Aerospace and Government, not to mention Commercial communications infrastructure, including Cruise ships, Teaching hospitals, University Campus, Multiple Corporate Offices and Stadia/Arena.
Production teams from all over the world have used Clear-Com’s intercom systems for its clarity, reliability, and scalability in various application settings.
